THE WAY
[line] WE DO BUSI3NESS
To follow our formula for a better future, clear goals and processes are essential. With a well-defined corporate structure and clear lines of accountability, we ensure decisions are made responsibly and transparently. Our governance approach is based around our management structure and has a dual focus—ensuring the highest standards of corporate responsibility and acting as the backbone for Uni-Tankers’ sustainability strategy.
Responsible business conduct has always been part of Uni-Tankers’ DNA. With over 25 years’ shipping experience, we recognize the risk of corruption and other improper business practices in various maritime regions.
To strengthen our business integrity approach, we have developed a number of new policies and systems to help our employees identify, prevent, and reduce risks. This includes our own Uni-Tankers Code of Conduct—on top of our parent company USTC’s Code of Conduct, a Supplier Code of Conduct, and upgrading our Safety Management System with enhanced anti-bribery and anti-corruption procedures.
As active members of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network, we cooperate with over 200 fellow shipping companies to promote integrity in our global industry. Insights from this group help guide our own efforts.
Training in compliance policies
for Chartering and Operations employees
Modern-day shipping faces many risks and not all of them are physical. All our vessels rely on digital technology, so data and cyber security is vital. Our approach combines regular employee training and clear internal structures.
As industry standards and external cybersecurity regulations become increasingly strict and detailed, we have developed a Governance, Risk, and Compliance system that bundles and manages information security standards. This helps us proactively control and evaluate security measures to ensure resilience. We have also formalized IT and security policies and updated data privacy agreements.
When it comes to cybersecurity, our people are our first line of defense. To maintain best practices—such as avoiding phishing attacks—we require all onshore employees to have completed our online cybersecurity training.

Our corporate structure is strong with clearly defined responsibilities and reporting lines from Uni-Tankers’ owners to the Board of Directors, executive management, and our employees. This promotes responsible and transparent decisions.
This structure requires and supports regular reporting and monitoring of progress in all operations and initiatives. To support this transparency, we keep improving how we collect and analyze data. This supports all areas of corporate governance but is particularly important in our ESG work because data helps us measure ourselves with the outside world. From regulations and legislation to industry best practice.
Wherever possible, we research and integrate new reporting standards (e.g., the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive [CSRD], the European Sustainability Reporting Standards [ESRS]) in advance to ensure compliance and increase transparency.
