After spending time aboard Lulu Tao with Leonora and Sissel from Drømme i Sigte, Line has returned ready to share the experiences, perspectives, and lessons she gained from her journey.
What began as an adventure at sea quickly became an opportunity to challenge herself, embrace new experiences, and experience a completely different way of life.
Embracing New Challenges
Before heading out to French Polynesia, Line made one simple promise to herself: she wasn’t allowed to say no to new experiences.
Determined to make the most of her time aboard Lulu Tao, she approached the journey with an open mind. It was a mindset that quickly led to experiences she never imagined she would have.
“I wasn’t allowed to say no to new experiences. I wanted to push my boundaries and open myself up to experiences I might otherwise have missed.”
With support from Leonora and Sissel, Line found herself embracing situations far outside her comfort zone and discovered how rewarding it can be to approach the unfamiliar with curiosity rather than hesitation.
“Approaching new experiences with an open mind and a ‘say yes’ attitude is something I will take with me moving forward. It allows you to keep challenging yourself, push your limits, and create unforgettable memories.”
More Than an Adventure
During Line’s stay aboard Lulu Tao, the crew shared many captivating moments together. One of the moments that stood out the most for Line was experiencing the world beneath the surface.
“The world beneath the surface took my breath away several times. The incredibly blue water was home to everything from colourful coral reefs and tropical fish to enormous whales moving effortlessly through the ocean.”
Beyond the unforgettable scenery and experiences, it was the sense of community on board that left a lasting impression. Living and working closely together created a strong sense of community, where everyone contributed and supported one another. Especially one tradition brought the crew closer together:
“Every evening at dinner, everyone around the table would share both the best and the most challenging experience of their day. It was a wonderful way to conclude the day, creating space to talk about difficult moments while also reflecting on and appreciating the highlights and memorable experiences we had shared.”
Taking the Lessons Home
Now back at Uni-Tankers, Line returns with new perspectives and valuable insights from her time aboard Lulu Tao. Life at sea reinforced the importance of communication, resilience, and teamwork, while teaching her how to adapt quickly to new environments and changing conditions.
“Living on a sailing boat taught me how to adapt quickly and become part of an already established routine. Settling into daily life and taking responsibility for your role within a small group requires strong communication skills and the ability to support one another when challenges arise.”
For Line, the journey showed that personal and professional growth often begin in the same place: by stepping into something unfamiliar. Life aboard Lulu Tao strengthened her confidence in adapting to change, taking responsibility, and embracing new challenges. Now, she hopes to carry that same mindset forward, remaining curious, open to new opportunities, and ready to challenge herself when the chance arises.
“Sailing through a place like French Polynesia was something I had only ever dreamed about, and now I have actually experienced it. It reminded me that being brave and curious can lead to the greatest experiences and create opportunities for growth.”
